Model is handcrafted from hard wood with planks on frame construction and painted with blue stripe as on the below photos. Model comes with 20 pair of oars equipped on both sides. Our model is fully assembled and ready for display.

Swedish old ship - galley Kalmar or Callmar

n the first half of the 18th century sweden strengthened the swedish archipelago navy and in the year 1749 no less than 44 new navy ships were launched to meet the threat from russian galleys. Callmar was built in the Kalmar shipyard on the swedish east coast. Crew: 300 men from Svea Lifgarde and Göta Lifgarde. She was driven by 20 pair of oars with 5 men on each oar. Lateen sail of altogether 300 square meters. 3 guns and 19 swivel guns. The galley Callmar participated in several famous sea battles, for example the "Viborgska Gatloppet" and the battle of Svensksund 1790. She was finally scrapped in 1810.
